Nagano Station is the gateway. The Hokuriku Shinkansen and long-distance trains arrive here, and both routes to the park begin at the East (Zenko-ji) Exit. The Nagano Dentetsu line runs from the platform below the station; the express bus leaves from the terminal just outside the East Exit.
Option A — The Express Bus (fastest)
Through the winter season a limited express bus runs direct from Nagano Station to the Snow Monkey Park trailhead in about 45 minutes. It is the simplest option when running — one ride, no transfers. Service is seasonal, so check the current timetable before relying on it.
Option B — The Train to Yudanaka (year-round)
The Nagano Dentetsu (Nagaden) line runs all year from Nagano to Yudanaka, the last stop, in roughly 45 to 70 minutes. Limited express trains are fastest; local trains are cheaper and frequent. Note that the JR Pass is not valid on the Nagaden line — buy a ticket or pay at the gate.
